Do you have a wooden ceiling with the typical yellow tinge or a staircase whose colour you no longer like? Our grey wood stain will give your wooden surfaces a chic, extravagant touch while preserving the natural beauty of the wood. To Stain Grey penetrates the pores of the wood and adapts to the surface structure without completely covering the grain. You only change the colour, your wood remains what it is: wood.

Indoors, To Stain Grey protects wooden surfaces against mechanical or chemical stress, e.g. from cleaning agents. Outdoors, Wood stain offers reliable protection against the weather. To Stain is UV-resistant and does not yellow even in strong sunlight.

Versatile painting options with grey wood stain

Inside the house, you can transform wooden stairs, doors and window frames with grey stain. Perhaps you have a boring floorboard or wooden wall panels that have yellowed over time. Paint them with To Stain Grey and give your room a whole new character. Floors and treads on stairs can also be easily stabilised with MissPompadour To Seal after staining.

Of course, our grey stain is also perfect for upcycling furniture. For a long time, untreated softwood furniture was the trend, but people have now grown tired of it. With a light or stronger grey shimmer, they take on a whole new look. As always with stains, you determine the intensity of the colour yourself. The colour changes depending on how many coats you apply.

To Stain grey can also be used outdoors. Embellish your garden shed, paint your fence or finish the wooden window frames or shutters with grey stain. MissPompadour To Stain Grey is UV-resistant so that the beautiful grey tone is retained. The stain also protects your wood against sunlight and the effects of the weather.

Protect wooden surfaces quickly & easily with Stain

Stain is very easy to apply. Firstly, as with all painting work, all surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned. Dirt and sanding dust should be removed. The best way to do this is to use the mild but extremely effective MissPompadour To Clean. Old waxes and varnishes must be sanded off. Raw wood should also be sanded evenly with fine sandpaper in the direction of the wood grain.

Then apply a thin, even coat of the grey MissPompadour Wood stains. Use a flat brush such as the fine MissPompadour brush or a varnish roller. The low-odour Wood stains are extremely quick-drying. It is already dust-dry after 20 minutes, touch-dry after 1 hour and MissPompadour To Stain Grey can be painted over after 4 hours. It is advisable to apply 3 coats to wood outdoors, 2 coats are sufficient indoors. You determine the colour intensity yourself by the number of coats applied. If you want to stain raw wood, it is advisable to dilute the first coat with 5% water to prevent the stain from being absorbed too much. Also carry out an intermediate sanding after the first coat, as wood fibres usually stand up on untreated wood.

The Wood stains are ready for use after approx. 3 days. You can refresh the stain at any time or paint over it with any of MissPompadour's varnishes. This means you can revise your decision to stain raw wood at any time.

Questions & answers about wood stains by MissPompadour

What is the difference between Wood stains and Wood varnish?

With a Wood stain, you can achieve a non-opaque yet even coat that does not hide the lively and natural look of wood. However, the colour pigments in the stain give the wood a different colour and can therefore also be changed stylistically. The surface continues to shine through, the stain is silky matt and protects against external influences such as weather, dirt and cleaning agents.

Wood lacquer, on the other hand, forms an opaque, pigmented layer on the surface of the wood. This changes the colour of the wood and the wood structure is no longer visible. Depending on the varnish quality, the surface becomes silky gloss or matt. Some wood varnishes also offer wood protection against weathering in outdoor areas.

MissPompadour Wood stains can be refreshed at any time later if necessary or painted over with water-based varnish.

How do I use MissPompadour To Stain - Wood Stain Grey inside?

MissPompadour To Stain is low-odour, water-soluble and low-VOC. The stain also dries extremely quickly. After cleaning, it should be applied 1-2 times when used for wood indoors. There should be a drying time of 4 hours between the first and second coat. Intermediate sanding may be necessary on untreated wood.

How do I use MissPompadour To Stain - Wood Stain Grey on the outside?

We recommend 3 coats for exterior areas. As To Stain dries very quickly, up to 3 coats can be applied per day. This is favourable for outdoor areas, as you can make perfect use of a day with good weather
