What you can paint with Matt Varnish

Ideal for your vintage & used look

MissPompadour Purple with Provence

This purple glows. That's why this intense purple shade should be used sparingly and with a great sense of colour. Paint a single piece of furniture in this strong colour, but then make the surroundings more neutral. Light beige and brown tones go particularly well with this expressive colour. Anyone who likes a colourful, eclectic furnishing style can also combine the strong purple with other intense colours such as green, red or orange.

This powerful purple is the colour of lavender fields in bloom on a summer's day in Provence. If you want to bring this atmosphere into your home, let the vibrant purple colour unfold its fantastic, individual effect in combination with light natural tones. Nevertheless, the intense colour should be used sparingly on the wall because, like all shades of purple, it can easily have a somewhat cool effect. Anyone who loves a colourful furnishing style can combine it with other intense colours. As always, the right mix ensures an attractive result.

MissPompadour Matt Varnish for your project

Velvety look for noble surfaces

MissPompadour Purple with Provence Matt Varnish lays softly on the surface. With this acrylic varnish, you can create a completely matt look that is downright velvety. Matt Varnish is particularly suitable as a wood varnish for cupboards and chests of drawers, i.e. all interior furniture that is not subject to constant wear.

If you want to give your Matt Varnish additional protection, use our colourless MissPompadour To Wax Polish. A thin layer of wax makes your surfaces easier to care for with a sophisticated shimmer. Or use our MissPompadour To Seal for extra impact protection. Note, however, that an additional topcoat will make the Matt Varnish furniture lacquer appear slightly glossier.

Matt Varnish for Vintage Look

Do you want to paint furniture with a vintage look? Then Matt Varnish MissPompadour Purple with Provence is the perfect varnish quality for your project. The dull finish of this furniture lacquer is reminiscent of old times. The matt varnish is also suitable for tone-in-tone painting, where you paint a piece of furniture in the same colour as the wall behind it. This makes particularly bulky furniture look less conspicuous. But Matt Varnish is not only used as a varnish for wood, but also for metal.

Matt Varnish for radiators

You can also create a great effect by painting a radiator in the same colour shade as the wall behind it. This makes the radiator disappear into the wall. Here, the heat-resistant Matt Varnish acrylic paint is ideal, because its surface structure is similar to that of our quality The Valuable Wall Paint.

Questions & Answers

How do I use Matt Varnish?

Stir the varnish carefully after opening the tin so that the pigments are evenly distributed. Then pour some of the varnish into a paint tray. Now apply the varnish evenly and not too thickly using a brush or varnish roller. For large surfaces such as wooden ceilings, you can also work with a paint sprayer. Dilute the varnish with a maximum of 10 % water.

Leave the varnish to dry for approx. 4 hours or overnight. Then apply a second coat of paint. We recommend that you always apply 2 coats, even if the varnish covers the first time. This makes the colour layer thicker and longer-lasting! The varnish layer is still somewhat sensitive in the first few days. After approx. 14 days, the varnish is hardened and resilient.

Tip: Wrap the paint tray, varnish brush and Roller in cling film during the drying break. This will keep everything moist until the second coat.

When do I need to prime or seal Matt Varnish?

In most cases, you can achieve a perfect result with MissPompadour Purple with Provence as a matt varnish alone - without priming or sealing. You can usually simply paint over old paintwork without sanding if the old layers of paint are still sufficiently stable.

However, priming is sometimes necessary. To Block & Bond- MissPompadour Primer is perfect for many surfaces. Use it to prime stained, discoloured wood or wood with lots of knotholes to create an even base for the Matt Varnish. It provides stainblock protection against bleeding wood.

If you want to paint very smooth surfaces made of glass, tiles or plastic, we recommend a primer coat of To Bond & Block so that your paint holds better.

You should also prime metal paintworkif the metal is unpainted or the varnish has flaked off. If it is raw iron or rusty metal, use a rust protection primer before priming.

For additional stabilisation of the surface, you can apply a thin layer of MissPompadour To Wax-Polish or MissPompadour To Seal at the end.

What tools do I need to apply the varnish?

Of course, you need the right tools for a good work result. That's why we've put together a selection of high-quality tools for you. From masking tape with natural rubber to our environmentally friendly paint trays without any plastic to the paint roller and our pink MissPompadour paint brushes - we have everything you need to make your painting projects easy. :)
