What To Seal can do

Extends the durability of the paint - Conjures up a matt surface - Water-based - Protects against scratches and knocks - Suitable for damp rooms: good splash water resistance - High transparency - Smooth application - Does not yellow

Ideal protection for painted materials & unpainted wood

Have you given your wooden staircase a new coat of paint or refreshed the kitchen fronts? Then To Seal is ideal for you! This topcoat creates a slightly matt look and ensures that your coat of paint can withstand heavy loads. It is suitable for the tiled splashback in the kitchen, for example. Your tiles on the floor or wall tiles in the shower will also benefit from a coat of To Seal, as the product increases water resistance. And even if you don't want to paint, but just want to protect wooden surfaces such as steps or table tops - To Seal is the right product.

Simple, strong & quick-drying

To Seal is water-based. It is also low in solvents and odours, so you can relax when painting your rooms. If you paint the topcoat on already hardened layers of paint or unpainted wood, it is fully resilient again after just 3 days.
Once you have sealed a surface, you can use it for longer without repainting. Thanks to To Seal, it is better protected against knocks and abrasion. This coating allows you to make a relaxed contribution to sustainability - because you won't need new varnish, furniture or tiles for a long time. As the icing on the cake, you even save money this way.

Application of the topcoat for chalk paint, wood & tile paint

To Seal is used to form a protective layer. This means that the topcoat is applied as the final coat. Leave your varnish coat to dry for 24 hours. Then apply the topcoat thinly and evenly to the surface using a roller or brush. After sealing, the colour coats and topcoat must dry thoroughly for 14 days. Until then, you should not put too much strain on the surfaces. Wait until at least 5 days after painting before cleaning or laying carpets for the first time. The painted surface will then become more resilient from day to day.

If you have already painted the surfaces a long time ago (at least 14 days before), the topcoat will have hardened after 3 days.

Water-based varnishes and topcoats are suitable for a wide range of surfaces, with one exception: areas with standing water cannot be painted. The varnish is suitable for surfaces that can get wet, but not for horizontal surfaces in wet areas. To Seal is therefore ideal for reinforcing painted wall tiles in the shower, for example, but not floor tiles in the shower.

Application of the topcoat on unpainted wood

If you are using To Seal to protect surfaces made of untreated wood, first make sure that the wood is dust-free and clean. Then apply the first coat of topcoat thinly and evenly with a roller or brush. The first coat can be thinned with 10-15% water. The second coat should be applied undiluted and not too thin. As there are no further layers of colour here, the topcoat is fully resilient after just 3 days.

MissPompadour Topcoat for protection against scratches on all surfaces

There are surfaces that are exposed to particular stresses. These include wooden and tiled floors, stairs and certainly kitchen furniture. But even if you have painted furniture in the children's room with LittlePomp chalk varnish, it may have to withstand a lot. It's not just about mechanical stresses such as scratches and pressure marks, but also chemical stresses caused by frequent maintenance with cleaning agents. It's a good thing To Seal exists! In contrast to a conventional clear lacquer, To Seal is completely matt and does not yellow even when exposed to light. To Seal not only provides effective wood protection against mechanical and chemical influences, but also preserves the beauty of your varnish.

To Seal tile paint after painting

If you intend to paint tiles on the wall or floor, you don't need to use a horrible smelling, unhealthy tile paint. Simply choose a beautiful colour shade in the Eggshell Varnish quality from MissPompadour's huge colour scheme.

After painting your tiles, wait 24 hours and then finish the colour coat with To Seal. Although wall tiles, whether in the bathroom or kitchen, are not exposed to much mechanical stress, they are often wet and cleaned with cleaning agents. Here, To Seal provides reliable protection against abrasion and damage. It goes without saying that tiles on the floor have to withstand very special stresses. Here, the colour coating must be protected against scratches, pressure marks and damage of all kinds. A topcoat for floor tiles is therefore absolutely essential. Please note that horizontal surfaces in the shower should not be painted, as water-based varnishes do not tolerate standing water.

Sealing wood varnish on wooden stairs & kitchen fronts

Be sure to protect wooden stairs that you have treated with varnish. To Seal should definitely be applied to the treads, but the risers and banisters also benefit from a topcoat. Also seal wooden elements that you leave unpainted. A wooden staircase is subject to heavy mechanical stress from foot traffic and is also exposed to chemical influences from damp wiping. The same applies to unfinished and painted floorboards.

Do you want to give the furniture and worktops in your kitchen a new coat of varnish? Then it is particularly important to ensure absolutely hard-wearing surfaces. Kitchen fronts and worktops need to be cleaned frequently due to the amount of dirt generated in the kitchen. Unfortunately, aggressive degreasers are often used for maintenance, although there is a mild and effective alternative with MissPompadour To Clean. In the kitchen, everything speaks in favour of using To Seal to additionally stabilise the surfaces and make them easy to clean.

Seal chalk paint with clear varnish

We are often asked whether it would be a good idea to use a clear varnish to topcoat chalk paints. We recommend applying a thin layer of topcoat varnish, especially for finishing chalk paints. Chalk paints are often chosen precisely because of their elegant, matt finish. With To Seal, you get a smooth and easy-care surface without the typical varnish sheen.
