The choice of colours for using the stencil Amsterdam

At the beginning of a stencilling job, you always have to choose the colour. The colour of the pattern should contrast well with the base colour. With one exception: on the wall, it sometimes looks quite sophisticated if you work almost tone-in-tone, so that the pattern stands out only dimly from the base colour. This goes particularly well with the Shabby style. Choose the colour shade of the base colour just a shade darker. Otherwise, we recommend a nice contrasting shade. Experienced artists can also try using two or three different colours with one stencil.

Working with the stencil Amsterdam

It is important that you always work perpendicularly when stencilling. It is best to draw a few horizontal and possibly also vertical lines with a pencil on the wall or the surface to be printed. Then hold the stencil against the surface using the contact points and dab paint vertically onto the stencil with the brush. It is very important that the brush does not contain too much paint. Otherwise the paint can run behind the stencil Amsterdam.
