Outdoor use

Does a primer have to be applied under white wood varnish?

First of all, it is important to remove dust, grease and any dirt from the surfaces before painting. The best way to do this is with the mild but effective MissPompadour To Clean.

A primer coat of To Bond & Block creates a barrier between wood and varnish and prepares the surface perfectly for painting with white varnish.

We generally recommend pre-painting with a primer for light colours, as the paint coat will then also cover more quickly.
