Black wood varnish at MissPompadour: Discover the colour range
It's the same with black as with all other colours: black is by no means the same as black. Black varnish for wood can be very dark, simply black. This includes the colour shade Black with Black from the Just paint Collection by MissPompadour. With a little grey and a soft purple shimmer, Black with Velvet has an interesting, soft touch. Black with Slate and CosyColours Secret Grey, on the other hand, are extremely dark anthracite shades. The addition of colour pigments makes them appear softer than Black with Black. Brown with Black is a warm near-black shade. The almost black Green with Black has slight green tones and its counterpart Blue with Black has a slight blue shimmer.
To decide on the right black wood lacquer, it is important to consider how heavily your workpiece will be used. Is it a chest of drawers that will be placed inside the house and not subjected to much wear and tear? Or do you want to paint window frames or a front door that will be exposed to wind and weather with black-black wood varnish? Do you want your black wood paint on kitchen fronts that are cleaned almost daily with detergent? But don't worry, finding the right black wood paint is easier than you think!
At MissPompadour Paint, you can find black wood paint in 3 different qualities. The extremely hard-wearing Eggshell Varnish and the matt quality Matt Varnish are available in the same colour shades. You will also find a Nearly Black shade in the CosyColours chalk collection, which you can use to paint wood black. Below you can find out which black colour for wood is suitable for which application.
Black matt to semi-gloss wood varnish for interior use
You can use all paint qualities from MissPompadour indoors. If you value semi-gloss surfaces that are extremely hard-wearing and also very easy to clean, then you should choose the Eggshell Varnish wood lacquer quality. Surfaces painted in this way are pleasant to the touch and resistant to pressure, impact, scratches and cleaning agents. This wood varnish in black is suitable for chairs, tables, but also for steps or doors indoors.
The Matt Varnish variant is somewhat more sensitive and only suitable for indoors. It gives you completely matt, velvety surfaces that look incredibly elegant. The matt surfaces are particularly suitable as furniture lacquer in black for a vintage look.
Both wood lacquer qualities are available in more than 90 different colour shades, including interesting black tones. Incidentally, the colour shades of the wood varnishes are perfectly matched to the MissPompadour wallpapers. If you value surfaces like in the old days, our CosyColours chalk varnishes are your first choice.
Painting wood black outdoors
If you want to paint a front door, garage door, window frames or shutters, your black wood paint must be weatherproof. The MissPompadour Eggshell Varnish wood varnish variant is suitable for this. Black wood varnish in this quality can also be used wonderfully on garden furniture, garden fences or a garden shed. Please note that even Eggshell Varnish does not tolerate standing water and is therefore not suitable for surfaces where water frequently collects (e.g. flat roofs or floor tiles).
Tip: Once you have decided on a paint quality and a colour shade, order your tools at the same time as the paint. This will save you shipping costs and a trip to the Diy store.
Black paint for wood in various areas of application
Black wood paint looks really chic. You could use it to paint a bedside cabinet or the doors of your kitchen cupboards. Take inspiration from the many members of our painting community who have already successfully painted their kitchens and other projects black. You can find detailed instructions on how to paint your wooden furniture here.
Incidentally, our varnishes not only adhere to wood, but also to many other surfaces. If your kitchen has a plastic veneer surface, that's no problem either. The only important thing is to prime it with our MissPompadour To Bond & Block primer.
Black colour shades can also embellish furniture in other rooms. Choose your favourite shade from the black colours and give a table top, chairs or a sideboard in the dining room a completely new look. Is the varnish on your piano damaged? Then treat it to a deep black varnish!
Black wood varnish for doors and windows
Painting the exterior door and window frames black gives the whole house a completely new look. Why not paint your front door with black wood paint? A black coat of paint on the outside looks extremely elegant, especially in combination with a white façade. Perhaps you could also combine it with a black garage door. Of course, you can also embellish the outside of the window frames with black-black varnish.
We recommend choosing a slightly tinted colour so that the contrast with the white plaster is not too harsh. Green with Black or Black with Velvet look great. Inside, you can then paint the front door and window frames a neutral light colour or match the colour of the room.
Stairs: paint wood black for a grand entrance
Do you have a boring wooden staircase in your home? Then you already have a new project: why not tackle the steps with black wood varnish? A coat of To Bond & Block primer creates the perfect base for your black colour.
Leave the primer to dry overnight and then apply the first coat of black paint. Once the colour is dry, apply the second coat. Finally, you should stabilise the steps with MissPompadour To Seal.
It's a good thing that MissPompadour products are low-odour, so they are pleasant to work with and the drying process does not pollute the air in the house. By the way, if you first treat every other step, you can continue to use the stairs during the painting work.
Painting the garden shed and fence with black wood paint
A garden shed and garden fence can also be embellished with black wood paint. On large areas, it is always worth working with Rollerrs and only using brushes for corners and hard-to-reach areas.
