Blue wall paint between sky and sea
Even though blue is the most popular colour worldwide, there are differences between countries. While Germans tend to prefer green colour shades as wall paint, people in the Nordic countries rely on the effect of blue wall paint. Perhaps this is due to the proximity to the sea.
In Germany, some people shy away from using a shade of blue as wall paint. This is because blue is often seen as a cold colour and is therefore quickly labelled as unwelcoming. However, blue wall paint is available in an infinite number of shades and nuances. Many of them create a warm atmosphere.
In many cultures, blue symbolises calming and relaxation. Shades of blue can reduce hectic and stress and restore inner balance. Looking "into the blue" can release nervous tension, loosen muscles and allow the heart to beat more calmly. This is why blue tones are wonderfully suitable as wall paints. As a sky colour, blue also symbolises its distance, vastness and infinity.
For which rooms is blue wall paint suitable?
Blue tones are very suitable in the bedroom. This is where you want to relax and calm down. Blue tones are downright meditative colours that are perfect for recovering from the stress of the day. It is important to use a warm, soft shade of blue in the bedroom. A single accent wall can also be given a colour shade in dark blue.
The dark blue wall paint signals calm, depth and night. Once you have painted a wall in Blue with Midnight, you should then keep the rest of the walls in a soft, pastel blue such as Blue with Snow so that the room doesn't become too dark.
A single blue wall can also have a great colour effect in the living room. We humans associate this colour with the expanse of a bright summer sky or the unfathomable depths of the sea. Blue is also the colour of loyalty and constancy, but is also said to promote laughter and cheerfulness.
A dark blue wall in the living room also goes perfectly with some furnishing styles. For example, honey-coloured natural woods made of rosewood or teak, as used in the mid-century style, look particularly attractive against dark blue. This also applies if the dark blue has a lot of green in it, creating a petrol blue effect. An example of this is MissPompadour Dark Blue with Green. Modern or classic art also looks fantastic on walls in dark blue. A deep, almost black blue such as MissPompadour Blue with Black or Blue with Ink makes all other colours shine.
Children's room walls can also be painted in blue colour shades. This doesn't just apply to boys' rooms. In many cultures, the colour blue is even explicitly associated with the feminine side of nature. You don't have to use blue pastel shades or even sky blue in the children's room. The delicate Blue & Calm and the more intense Blue & Noble from the colour scheme of the Little Pomp Keide paint collection are beautiful shades of blue that have been specially created for children's rooms.
Blue wall paint also works well in the study. Colours in blue-grey are recommended here. The colour effect of light, blue-grey colour shades such as Blue with Grey creates a contemplative mood, promotes concentration and makes work easier. After all, blue is also the colour of wisdom, precision, punctuality and courage. Certainly all terms that fit well in a study.
However, shades of blue as wall paint also have a colour effect that is well suited to a bathroom or a room dedicated to wellness. The fresh turquoise blue of the Caribbean is just as suitable here as soft, light blue colour shades. In the bathroom, you can create a connection to clear rivers and lakes with colour shades in light blue. Paint the ceiling and create an impression of the expanse of sky and sea in the wellness or bathing room.
Effect of wall paint in blue
Different shades of blue have very different effects. It is therefore important to choose the right blue. There are two basic colours for blue tones: violet blue and cyan blue. Violet blue has a short-wave component in the colour spectrum, while cyan blue has a medium-wave component. Violet blue, which we tend to perceive as "warm", is actually a colour mixture of magenta and cyan blue. This includes, for example, the colour shade ultramarine blue.
A distinction is made between green blue tones and turquoise or petrol, as well as violet blue tones, which contain so much red that they can already be classified as violet. If these colour shades are mixed with White, Black or Grey, a variety of different colours are created. MissPompadour offers a large number of different shades of blue. A set of colour cards can make the selection easier.
