Areas of application for white paint
If an object is to be painted with white paint, high demands are placed on the new surfaces. The white paint should have high opacity, it should adhere well and be easy to apply. To Paint and during the drying process, no toxic vapours should be inhaled. The surface should also be scratch and impact resistant afterwards and the white colour should not yellow even after a long time. These numerous requirements can only be met if a premium quality white lacquer is used for painting.
White varnish on wood
Wood is a perfect substrate for all types of paint. Wooden furniture, but also kitchen furniture, can be embellished with white varnish. However, many other items made from this material also benefit from a coat of white paint.
Stairs are given a clean and inviting look with a white coat of paint that also has a satin or semi-gloss finish. Treads, risers and banisters can also be painted a bright white, but white paints are also suitable for doors and window frames made from different types of wood.
If you want to paint wooden surfaces a light colour, we recommend using a primer. MissPompadour To Bond & Block creates an even surface to which white varnish adheres well and also prevents tannins from bleeding.
White varnish can also be used outdoors on wooden surfaces. Front doors and window frames can also be painted a brilliant white on the outside. Fences, a pergola or the garden shed can be given a new look with a coat of white paint. And a white-painted garden seating area has an almost aristocratic charm.
When used outdoors, make sure that the white varnishes used are weather-resistant. Therefore, use the satin-gloss MissPompadour Eggshell Varnish here . The surface finish will then be satin matt. Wherever white varnishes need to be impact-resistant and easy to clean, this varnish quality is the first choice. Please note that Eggshell Varnish is only suitable for surfaces from which water can run off easily. Standing water destroys the varnish.
If you are looking for a completely matt, elegant surface with a velvety shimmer, it makes sense to paint with MissPompadour Matt Varnish. This varnish variant should be used indoors. You can find white varnishes especially for children's rooms among the LittlePomp chalk varnishes in MissPompadour's enchanting children's collection.
Painting metal with white paint
White paint colours are used particularly frequently on metal radiators. A high-quality varnish has the property of expanding with the underlying metal when the radiator heats up. This prevents cracks from forming in the painted surface.
You can also beautify aluminium surfaces or steel surfaces, such as garage doors, with white varnish. A romantic iron garden seating area can be given a new look with white lacquer. Or maybe you could just repaint an outdoor light.
Inside, give an old metal locker a new purpose with a coat of white paint. There are endless possibilities for using white varnish on metal!
Before you treat iron metal with white paint, it is important to first carefully sand off any rust and pre-treat the metal with a rust protection primer. This should be followed by a primer coat of MissPompadour To Bond & Block. The combination of rust protection primer and primer creates a secure barrier between the metal and varnish and prevents the metal from corroding. The white paint is then applied.
White varnish on plastic and other extremely smooth surfaces
Some people want to give a somewhat faceless mass-produced item a personalised look, especially when it comes to furniture from IKEA. Much of this furniture has a plastic veneer. Some kitchen furniture even has a surface with an extremely high gloss level. The surfaces of this furniture can also be finished with white lacquer.
The only important thing here is to ensure that the colour adheres well to the smooth surface. This is why you should also precoat with To Bond & Block. A plastic surface with an extremely high gloss level or even a glass surface can then be treated with white varnish.
You can also embellish colourful plastic children's toys with white varnish. We recommend using LittlePomp's white chalk varnish here.
White lacquer on tiles, stone and concrete
Tiles in the bathroom and kitchen can be painted with white varnish. Tiles should also be pre-coated with To Bond & Block. This allows the paint to adhere well to smooth tiles with a high gloss level. Tiles on the floor should also be painted with satin matt white tile paint. Floor tiles should also be sealed. MissPompadour To Seal is ideal for this.
Sometimes dark brickwork, especially exposed brickwork, can be distracting in a room. Here too, a coat of white paint can work wonders. The colour shade used looks sophisticated if the varnish has a subtle silky sheen. If you are painting concrete white, it is essential to prime it with To Bond & Block. It closes the pores of the material.
White paint colour: high opacity is the key
It doesn't matter whether you're painting window frames or doors, wooden furniture or metal such as aluminium or iron. It is always important that the varnish has a high opacity, especially with white colours. This is where the quality of a really good paint comes into its own. Regardless of whether you choose a satin matt or powder matt varnish - you don't want the substrate to show through. Thanks to the good pigmentation of MissPompadour Paints, painting white on any surface is no problem at all.
