Where can varnishes in petrol be used?
Petrol lies in the colour spectrum between green and blue. The intense blue-green tones tend to be referred to as petrol. In colour psychology, petrol tones express clear creative power and creative expressiveness. Petrol is not only a great wall paint, but is also very suitable as a furniture paint. You can also embellish doors, stairs and banisters with petrol paint. Petrol coloured paint is suitable for a living room, a bedroom, but it can also decorate the tiles in a bathroom.
As MissPompadour Paint offers a suitable paint quality for all surfaces and finishes, you will find suitable colours for both indoor and outdoor use. Whether on metal, wood or plastic, any surface can be made interesting with petrol colour shades.
Even kitchen cabinets can be given a fresh, new look by painting them with colours in petrol tones. It is often enough to paint the doors of the cabinets and leave the natural wood frames around them wood-coloured. This is because petrol colours go perfectly with natural wood tones.
Petrol-coloured varnish for wooden furniture with that certain something
A coloured lacquer in blue-green tones works particularly well on a wooden surface, as is the case with most furniture. This is because a strong colour shade in bright petrol turquoise such as Green with Lagoon makes a piece of furniture look striking.
Its radiance also depends on whether you choose a semi-gloss or matt lacquer quality. The Eggshell Varnish quality creates surfaces that appear silky matt and smooth thanks to their slight shimmer. These surfaces are easy to clean and pleasant to the touch. What's more, this varnish is not only suitable for indoor use, but can also be used outdoors.
You can achieve a completely different effect by painting wood with the Matt Varnish quality. You can use it to create petrol tones that look velvety, powdery and incredibly elegant. A coloured varnish in the colour petrol is particularly effective in the matt look. However, this varnish is only suitable for indoor use. It is also nice that both the matt coloured lacquer and the lacquer quality in silk matt hardly release any volatile compounds into the room air during drying and are low-odour.
If your wood has intense stains, such as those caused by knotholes, you should apply a primer coat of MissPompadour Primer To Bond & Block. This is because although the lighter petrol tones are highly opaque, the stains could otherwise shine through. There are also woods that still exude tannins years later. These bled substances can negatively alter lighter blue-green tones in particular. This is why you should also use To Bond & Block as a primer here.
Petrol as a metal paint and on plastic
Petrol paints are not only suitable for working on wood. You can also use it to paint metal. How about painting a metal radiator in the same colour as the wall behind it, for example? The matt paint variant is particularly suitable for this because it makes the radiator look just as velvety as the surfaces of the wall behind it.
Paint an old locker for your industrial-style interior in a sophisticated, dark petrol shade such as Dark Blue with Green. To ensure that the varnish adheres well to the smooth metal, you should prime it with To Bond & Block. If you are painting rusty metal, sand off the rust well as a first step and use a rust protection primer before applying the primer.
If you have furniture with plastic surfaces, you can also paint them with blue-green varnish. You can even paint high-gloss kitchens ! When painting plastics, you should only apply a primer coat of To Bond & Block. This creates an even surface that allows the coloured paint to adhere well.
Embellish tiles, stone and concrete with varnishes in petrol
You can also embellish tiles with a coat of petrol coloured paint. Here, you should also prime with To Bond & Block to allow the coloured paint to adhere well to the smooth surface. For tiles on the floor, we recommend finishing with To Seal. This is because indoor floors are also exposed to high levels of stress. The extra layer of To Seal additionally protects your tile paint in petrol.
Perhaps you would like to create a pattern on your tiles with one of our MissPompadour stencils. Green with Teal and Green with Glacier, for example, make an interesting combination.
A wall made of exposed brickwork can also be embellished with a sophisticated petrol shade. This also applies to a dull concrete wall that you may have grown tired of.
Outdoor varnishes: using petrol outdoors
Petrol is not just a colour for indoors. Petrol can also be used to give metal or wooden furniture, as often found in the garden, an interesting look. You can also use a bright, gaudy colour such as Green with Ocean here. Why not paint a garden shed or garage door in a deep petrol? Doors, such as the front door or a cellar door, can also make a positive change to the entire exterior of a house with a subtle but interesting coloured paint.
The satin matt Eggshell Varnish is always recommended here, as this varnish is weatherproof and durable. The only thing that even Eggshell Varnish cannot withstand is standing water. So make sure that water can always run off the painted surfaces well.
