Areas of application for varnishes in blue
The use of lacquer colours is a common method of protecting and beautifyingsurfaces. One colour that is particularly popular for indoor and outdoor use is blue. Blue radiates calm, peace and serenity and can therefore create a pleasant atmosphere.

Redesigning furniture with blue varnish
Blue paint is extremely versatile when it comes to furniture. When it comes to painting wooden furniture, for example, a blue colour shade can give a piece of furniture a fresh, modern look. Soft shades of blue in particular, such as the dove blue from Blue with Grey, CosyColours Dawn Blue or a light blue such as Blue & Noble from the LittlePomp collection, are very popular on furniture. But a deep dark blue such as Blue with Night is also a great furniture colour.
Blue wooden furniture can be used both indoors and outdoors. They are often used in conjunction with maritime or Scandinavian furnishings. If you combine blue furniture paint with soft beige tones such as beige with sand, you can bring a holiday atmosphere into your home.
If you are painting bleeding wood or wood with large knotholes and discolouration, you should apply a primer. MissPompadour To Bond & Block ensures an even coat without discolouration.
Maritime coloured lacquer: blue for painting metal
Varnishes in shades of blue are not only suitable as a wood colour. When it comes to painting metal railings or garden furniture, varnish in shades of blue is also popular for outdoor use. Use Eggshell Varnish for outdoor areas. Blue colours are a wonderful complement to green plants and blue skies. If you choose a bright blue such as Blue with Violet, you can transfer the colourfulness of the flowers to your garden furniture.
Varnishes in all colours also offer effective protection against the weather, so that the metal parts last longer. To ensure that the varnish adheres well to the smooth surface, prime with To Bond & Block before painting. If you are painting metal that is already rusty, sand off the rust well as a first step and use a rust protection primer before applying the primer.
An old metal locker can also be given a new, interesting look with blue paint. Or how about painting a metal radiator the same colour as the wall behind it? This will make the radiator recede inconspicuously into the wall. In both cases, a matt coat of Matt Varnish would be ideal for the interior. It creates a completely matt, deep finish that is particularly suitable for the vintage look. It's great that painting the inside of the house is easy. This is because MissPompadour's varnishes are all low-odour.
Blue varnish for plastics
Blue lacquered plastic is very popular. With different gloss levels, from semi-gloss to completely matt, varnishes in blue colour shades allow a wide range of design options. Blue colour in semi-gloss, as in the Eggshell Varnish quality, gives the plastic surface a subtle shimmer. It also makes them pleasant to the touch and easy to clean. This quality is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it is robust and weatherproof.
On the other hand, a completely matt coating in blue colour shades gives all surfaces the impression of noble elegance with its velvety finish. You can create this effect with varnishes in the Matt Varnish quality and with the chalk varnishes from the LittlePomp collection. The chalk varnishes in the CosyColours collection also impress with their elegant colour shades. These varnishes are intended for indoor use.
You should also prime plastic surfaces with To Bond & Block as a first step so that the colour can adhere well. Then you can give your home elements a new look with blue paint from the inside to the outside, from cabinets to window frames and exterior doors made of rigid PVC. Dark colours are often used to paint windows and doors. The darkest blue in the Collection is Blue with Black - it is already one of the Nearly Black shades.
Painting tiles, stone and concrete blue
Blue paint colours can also be used to paint concrete, screed and exposed brickwork. If you're tired of the drab concrete look in your basement, try cool blue colours. It can also look sophisticated if a blue wooden cupboard stands in front of a wall painted in the same colour. Even a tiled stove, which may seem heavy and dominating due to its dark colour, can be given a friendly and modern makeover by painting it with colours from the blue colour spectrum.
Of course, you can also transform a bathroom into a real wellness temple with a soft blue-grey colour. Paint the tiles in a beautiful water colour such as Blue with Cloud and combine it with light brown and beige tones. As always with smooth surfaces, you should prime with To Bond & Block before painting tile paint in blue. If you are painting heavily used surfaces such as floor tiles, it is advisable to protect the tiles with MissPompadour To Seal at the end.
Varnishes in blue for outdoors
Paint your garden shed or garden fence in "Frisian blue". Or embellish the shutters of your house in a sophisticated dark blue such as Blue with Midnight or Blue with Black. There are no limits outside either, because the blue Eggshell Varnish quality is ideal for outdoors. It is resistant, weatherproof and stable. The only thing it cannot withstand is standing water. Therefore, make sure that water can always run off the painted surfaces well.
Light blue to dark blue: Colour scheme of varnishes in blue
MissPompadour offers a wide range of blue colour shades. Very light is the delicate pastel blue of Blue with Snow, which is also a perfect complementary shade to stronger blue tones and several of the MissPompadour non-woven wallpapers. Blue with Cloud is a beautiful colour shade for a maritime ambience. And the striking Blue with Fog has a subtle and elegant effect. Blue with Jeans is bold and has a slight green tinge. Blue with Ink is a very deep, dark shade of blue. And with a touch of petrol, there is also the rich Dark Blue with Green. In the children's collection, LittlePomp also offers two enchanting shades of blue in chalk quality: Blue & Noble and the very delicate Blue & Calm.

Frequently asked questions about painting with blue varnish
- Do light blue varnishes have good coverage?
Yes, the varnishes from MissPompadour have a very high opacity. If your cupboard or chest of drawers has extreme stains, for example due to knotholes, pre-paint with To Bond & Block. This will give you an even surface. - Are there woods that need to be primed?
Yes, oak and some tropical woods tend to "bleed" even after years. This means that they release tannins into the varnish. For this reason, you should always prime these woods with To Bond & Block.
