Black varnish: statement colour for furniture & co.
Black upholstered furniture, black furniture and black kitchens are all the rage at the moment. After years of not being light enough, people are now turning to grey and really deep black. Find out here what you can paint with black-black varnish.
Areas of application for black varnish
Of course you can paint furniture a wonderful black colour. Black furniture is versatile: it goes well with all colours on home textiles such as curtains and carpets. But colourful or intensely coloured upholstered furniture can also be combined wonderfully with black lacquered furniture. If you combine black with natural tones such as beige, grey-beige and light brown, you get a really elegant effect.
You can therefore use black as a lacquer colour in almost all rooms in your home. A paint finish with black wood colour also looks great outdoors on window frames, front doors and garage doors. And a kitchen with a black-painted wood surface immediately takes on a whole new look. To achieve a good effect with black paint, however, you need a really good varnish that is perfectly even - and you can find this among the MissPompadour Paints.
Black: matt lacquer for furniture with character
Black furniture always has its fans. But you don't have to buy new furniture to redecorate - simply paint the furniture you already own with black furniture lacquer. The elegant Black with Velvet has a bluish to violet shimmer depending on the incidence of light and its depth of colour makes it ideal for painting furniture. If you have painted your walls in a shade of green, choose Green with Black for furniture.
A varnish in black with Black varnish looks particularly dark and rich. The MissPompadour Matt Varnish quality is a black matt varnish that impresses with its low gloss level. If you paint furniture, doors or shelves with this wood colour, you get a velvety matt, extremely elegant surface. It is only suitable for indoor use, but creates a great vintage feel, especially for interiors with old furniture.
Varnishes in black for varnishing metal
Black varnishes can also be a great idea for other surfaces, such as metal. An old locker, for example, would look great with a coat of black lacquer in a chic, modern industrial-style interior. Both varnishes from MissPompadour are also suitable for painting a radiator. With a coat of black paint, you can give your radiator the boring foreign body look and create an eye-catcher.
If you are painting metal, you should apply a primer such as MissPompadour To Bond & Block. The primer allows the varnish to adhere well. If you want to paint rusty metal, you should always sand the rust well first and then pre-treat it with a rust protection primer .
If you use the black matt varnish Matt Varnish in the colour Black with Black, you can achieve elegant, powdery surfaces in the deepest black on metal. The Eggshell V arnish colour has, as the name suggests, a slight shimmer, but is therefore very durable and impact-resistant
Plastic and black lacquer
Plastics and PVC veneers can also be painted with black-black varnish. Here, To Bond & Block should be used as a primer so that the varnish can adhere well to the smooth surface. The same applies to doors and shelves that have a plastic surface. You can also paint the plastic surfaces of your kitchen units black. In the kitchen, you should additionally reinforce your surfaces with To Seal topcoat after painting.
The great thing is that you can use black varnish from MissPompadour indoors because it is low-odour during drying and does not release any VOCs into the air later on.
Tiles, stone and concrete in black varnish on various surfaces
A substrate of exposed brickwork can also be finished in matt black. A colour shade such as Brown with Black makes the colour shade a little softer and warmer. For tiles, you should use the Eggshell Varnish quality. It is easier to maintain than a matt black floor surface, as Eggshell Varnish is abrasion-resistant and washable. You can even paint tiles on a fireplace with MissPompadour tile paints. You can also use leftover paint for crafting - repaint your flower pots, for example.
Black varnish for indoors and outdoors
Black varnishes are also popular on front doors or garage doors. Nearly black tones such as Black with Slate are particularly popular here. This anthracite shade is softer than deep black, while the Eggshell Varnish is recommended for outdoor areas. It is weatherproof and UV light-resistant and can withstand the elements. Just make sure that water can run off the painted surfaces well - even Eggshell Varnish cannot withstand standing water. This varnish has a slightly higher gloss level than the matt black version.
Large selection of black varnishes at MissPompadour
As with all colours, not all blacks are the same. At MissPompadour Paint, there is a large selection of black shades. The darkest black is Black with Black. In the Matt Varnish quality, it appears even darker, as the matt structure of the colour completely absorbs the light.
Another varnish black shade at MissPompadour is Black with Velvet. This black is tinted with very little grey pigment, which acts like a soft focus. This makes the effect of the colour less harsh. Grey with Black, on the other hand, is on the border between black and grey.
A black that comes from the blue colour spectrum is the extremely dark Blue with Black. The rich dark Green with Black comes from the green colour range. Both shades are also known as near-black. Black with Slate, a dark colour shade from nature, and the dark Brown with Black, which radiates dark warmth, are also slightly grey-grey.
All of these colour shades are also available from MissPompadour as black wall paints.
The CosyColours Collection also includes Secret Grey, a near-black colour shade in chalk varnish quality.
Order matt and semi-gloss black varnishes from MissPompadour
To find the right colour shade for your home, it's best to order a set of colour cards. You can remove the postcard-sized cards individually and attach them to the object you want to paint. This way, you can examine the individual shades of black in any lighting.
Whether varnish black matt or satin gloss is the right one depends on what you want to paint. In any case, Eggshell Varnish is low-odour, hard-wearing and easy to maintain. It should be used on floor tiles, kitchen furniture and in hallways and bathrooms - anywhere where the varnish is used on a daily basis and needs to be cleaned frequently. The Matt Varnish quality is also low-odour. It has a beautifully matt, very dark appearance and is suitable for more decorative furniture and interior design elements.
