Sustainable and individual upcycling with furniture colour beige
We live in a time when we all value sustainability. Why dispose of a piece of furniture and buy a new one straight away when a tin of paint can give the old furniture a new look? Apart from the fact that old furniture is often much better made than modern industrial goods, the environment is happy about every piece of furniture that is preserved. And so does your wallet.
These varnishes are suitable for painting furniture beige
MissPompadour offers a wide range of beige colour shades. Let yourself be inspired by the many beige shades at MissPompadour. Not only will you find great beige variants among the particularly hard-wearing MissPompadour furniture paints, the LittlePomp children's collection also offers a warm beige tone on a chalk base. And the new CosyColours Collection with its soft, pastel chalk paints enchants with a great beige palette.
Eggshell Varnish: Ideal varnish for heavily used surfaces
The Eggshell Varnish quality from the MissPompadour Collection is particularly suitable for furniture that is subject to heavy use. Tables and chairs, for example, benefit from a coat of Eggshell Varnish. It gives you a silky matt, easy-to-clean surface with an impressively smooth feel. Although the furniture paint is water-based, it is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, for example for painting garden furniture.
Matt varnish: matt varnish for a vintage look
If you want a particularly elegant, completely matt surface on a piece of furniture that is less exposed to wear, then use the Matt Varnish variant. It creates a velvety, powdery surface that perfectly emphasises light beige tones. You can use Matt Varnish on all interior surfaces. It is particularly suitable for painting cupboards and chests of drawers in beige furniture paint.
Paint furniture in the colour beige with chalk paint
Another way to paint your furniture beige is to use chalk varnish, as found in the CosyColours Collection and LittlePomp chalk varnishes. The components of the chalk varnish lie gently on the surface of your furniture and create a slightly rustic, completely matt-varnish texture. The CosyColours varnishes with their soft, cosy colour shades are particularly suitable for designing vintage-style furniture. Their matt surfaces and muted colour shades are reminiscent of times gone by.
Beige: the right furniture colour to use
The first step is preparation: whenever you want to paint wooden surfaces or other surfaces with beige furniture paint, you should start by carefully cleaning your piece of furniture. All dust, dirt and grease must be removed before painting. We recommend the mild but very effective MissPompadour To Cleaner for this. Old wax must also be removed.
If your furniture has old stains, is bleeding or the wood structure is very porous, you should apply a primer first. Use MissPompadour To Bond & Block. This will create an even base for your beige colour. This also applies if you want to work with plastic or metal veneer. The primer ensures that your beige furniture paint adheres to the smooth surface. Incidentally, you can simply paint over old coats with the beige furniture paint as long as the varnish still holds well. However, if the old paint peels off your furniture, you will need to sand it down.
The actual coat of varnish should always be applied twice. Although all MissPompadour furniture lacquers have a very high opacity, the furniture colours are even more vibrant with a second coat. The second coat also makes the paint layer more robust. You can find detailed painting instructions in our blog on painting wooden furniture.
After painting, you can apply an additional protective layer if required to make your beige furniture lacquer even harder. The MissPompadour To Seal topcoat is suitable for this . You can also apply a layer of colourless Wax-Polish to enhance the antique look of your furniture.
Create different living styles with beige furniture lacquer
Beige coats of varnish can accompany any style of living. Whether you appreciate a romantic shabby chic ambience and want to work with wood, or want to embellish straight-lined, more minimalist furniture made of metal or with plastic veneer - any piece of furniture can be transformed with beige furniture paint. As beige colours are often very neutral, you can also combine beige furniture paint with another matching colour such as yellow furniture paint. The use of beige colour shades opens up a wide range of combination colours.
Neutral furniture: beige in the children's room
Beige can also make a big difference in the children's room. The soft LittlePomp Beige & Warm is a colour shade that is perfect for a changing table or cot. After all, not everyone necessarily wants a baby or children's room to be brightly coloured. And it's not just the wood of the furniture that can benefit from a coat of beige. Children's toys in overly bright colours can also benefit from a coat of Beige & Warm. The LittlePomp colours are saliva-proof and absolutely safe for children. Incidentally, the LittlePomp furniture paint colour shades are also available as wall paint. This allows you to achieve a beautiful tone-on-tone design.
Elegant furniture colour for modern living
Various shades of beige, such as the CosyColours shade Creme Beige or MissPompadour Beige with Cashmere, combined with dark chocolate brown or subtle anthracite tones, go well in a modern ambience. Beige furniture paint can be used to give simple, modern furniture a high-quality, elegant finish. It is also clever to combine different shades of beige furniture lacquer.
Beige tones for the vintage look
If you want to achieve a romantic vintage look, we recommend using furniture lacquer in the Matt Varnish or CosyColours chalk paints. After painting with chalk paints or Matt Varnish, you can sand the edges of your furniture a little. This will give you the coveted used look. If you are working on softwood furniture, it may be that the light wood colour of the base does not contrast enough with your beige furniture paint. You can then touch up the sanded areas with CosyColours Furniture Wax in antique.
