Red chalk paint - how it works
Thanks to the small chalk particles it contains, chalk-paint develops a slightly rustic, very matt surface. This has an extremely elegant effect. To match this elegant effect, MissPompadour has developed shades of red in the CosyColours collection that bring a particularly warm and cosy atmosphere into your home
Colour nuances of red chalk paints
The warm Autumn Red is a friendly, soft earth tone. Its brownish-orange colour nuances tempt you to dream, as they are reminiscent of the last warm, sunny days of Indian summer. This red chalk paint gets its softness from the many beige colour components. Combine the soft, earthy orange-red of Autumn Red with beige tones from the CosyColours collection, such as the warm Smooth Beigeor the friendly Wool Blanket Beige. It doesn't get any cosier than this!
Poudre Red has a slightly fresher look. It is a light, soft shade of red with a large beige colour component. This makes the soft colour shade a downright cosy colour, but one with a subtle effect. This pastel shade radiates feminine elegance without appearing kitschy in any way. Due to its warm colour components, this chalk paint red tends towards apricot. Poudre Red can be wonderfully complemented by the friendly Soft Beige from the CosyColours collection. You can enhance any surface with the matte finish of this subtle lipstick colour shade
The subtle Tender Rose tends more towards rosé. It has a slight tendency towards violet. Its grey colour components make it a slightly cooler, awakened and elegant chalk paint in red
These red chalk paints create a noble, soft atmosphere. And yet they radiate energy in your rooms and create a positive mood
Design tips with red chalk paints
You can use our soft red tones on almost any surface. Red chalk paint can be used on wooden furniture, doors and window frames. Paint a bookshelf or chest of drawers with one of these great red colours
However, chalk paint red is also suitable for painting tiles that are not subject to much wear or for treating metal surfaces. Even glass or plastic can be treated with chalk paint in red tones. Why not combine attractive non-woven wallpaper and furniture painted with red chalk paint - this will give your rooms a particularly interesting look
Due to the slightly rustic effect on the painted surfaces, red chalk paint is also well suited to shabby chic furniture. Because to make furniture shabby, the colours should look a little like colours from earlier times. The matt, chalky finish of the CosyColours chalk varnish is wonderfully suited to the vintage style. You can create an authentic vintage atmosphere in your rooms bit by bit, especially with the nuances of different shades of red
Shades of red can be used in any room in your home. Paint a piece of furniture in your dining room, accentuate a lamp with red chalk paint or create highlights in the bathroom by painting your wall tiles in a warm shade of red. You can breathe life into any area of your home with red chalk paint, because even soft red colour shades spread energy
Often it doesn't even have to be a piece of furniture. You can create a great effect for your rooms by applying red chalk paint to a few decorative items. Paint the surface of a vase or create an accent with a red candlestick. Red in combination with other colour shades is always a combination that adds chic and vibrancy
The advantages of chalk paint in red
Chalk paint consists mainly of chalk, water and pigments. It is VOC free, which means that it does not release any volatile chemical compounds into the environment as it dries
Another advantage of red chalk paint is that it is easy to clean. The painted surfaces can simply be wiped down with a damp cloth. If you have a particularly hard-wearing surface in one area, such as a dining table, finish the paint with MissPompadour To Seal
Application of chalk paint in red
As with all painting work, start by thoroughly cleaning your painted object. Our MissPompadour To Clean is particularly suitable for this. You can then paint with the chalk paint
If you want to paint plastic, ceramic, glass or other smooth surfaces, pre-paint with our MissPompadour To Bond & Block primer. By painting with this bonding and stain block, the paint will also adhere perfectly to smooth surfaces
On wooden furniture and all other surfaces, apply the red chalk paint in 2 coats. Use a brush such as our Fine MissPompadour Brush. For larger areas, you can also apply the red chalk paint with a paint roller.
How do I choose the right shade of red paint?
When choosing the right shade of red, you should always consider the pigment composition. For example, if a red colour shade contains a lot of beige pigment, this red will harmonise well with beige shades; if the red chalk paint contains brown pigment, brown shades will go well
