Red varnishes for a wide range of projects
Red is one of the three primary colours and a colour to which the human eye reacts very sensitively. This is why this colour is often used for warning signals such as traffic lights and road signs. It is also frequently used in advertising to attract attention. Red is a warm colour. We associate it with the energy and warmth of fire and embers. Red is also the colour of blood and is inextricably linked with life in our imagination. Red stands for love and passion, but also for anger and rage.
As always, not all red is the same. Red colour shades can be bright and delicate, tend towards pink, appear bright and intense, or lean towards orange or violet. Depending on which other colours or pigments are added to a red shade, very different colour shades are created. Red paint accents can make your home lively and interesting.
Painting wooden surfaces red
Whether a cupboard or a wooden shelf in the living room is painted in bold red furniture varnish such as MissPompadour Red with Cherry, or the soft, gentle Red with Flamingo adorns the bedside cabinets in the bedroom, red varnish always has a great effect. A red table or a single red chair can add real pizzazz to a plain, somewhat boring dining set.
For raw wood that absorbs a lot of paint, we recommend priming with MissPompadour To Bond & Block. This primer ensures an even surface and saves paint colour afterwards. To Bond & Block also prevents the bleeding of tannins that could discolour your paint and generally creates a good basis for an even coat of varnish.
But it's not just furniture that benefits from a coat of red varnish. Stairscan also be painted in attractive shades of red. Perhaps combine Red with Merlot on the treads and handrail with the soft Red with Raspberry on the risers. As a staircase is subjected to a lot of wear and tear every day, you should finish the paint job with a coat of MissPompadour To Seal. This topcoat provides additional protection for your varnish.
Painting metal with varnish: red as a signal colour
Metal surfaces can also be treated with a red colour. For example, you can make the radiator in a room painted with a soft red wall paint literally disappear into the wall by painting it tone-on-tone with varnish in the same colour as the wall behind it.
If you are painting metal, it is advisable to prime it with To Bond & Block before painting so that the paint can adhere well. If the metal is already rusty, sand off the rust well and use rust protection primer before applying the primer.
Painting plastic surfaces red with varnishes
MissPompadour varnishes are also suitable for treating plastic surfaces. You can give all furniture with PVC veneer, even high-gloss kitchens, a new look with varnishes in various shades of red. Shades of red such as the bright Red with Coral create an appetising and conversation-stimulating atmosphere in the kitchen and dining room. So have the courage to use colour!
Don't forget an important preparation product for this too: The To Bond & Block primer enables your red varnish to adhere perfectly to smooth plastic.
Varnishes: red for tiles, stone, concrete and other smooth surfaces
Red varnish can also be used on tiles in the bathroom. A soft lacquer shade such as MissPompadour Pink with Grey transforms your bathroom into a wellness oasis. You could combine varnishes in soft grey and paint the tiles on the floor in dark grey like Black with Slate. The To Bond & Block product should also be used here . This is because primer products are the perfect preparation for painting with tile paint in shades of red.
If you are painting floor tiles, you should definitely use the hard-wearing Eggshell Varnish quality and finish the coat with To Seal. If you have leftover red paint, you can also use it to create decorative elements such as round pebbles.
Red varnish outdoors
Red varnishes can be used not only indoors, but also outdoors. For example, if you want to finish the metal furniture in your garden in a clear shade of red, you can use the bright red from MissPompadour Red with Chilli. This colour shade then blends perfectly with the surrounding greenery, just like in a Monet painting. If you want a small Swedish holiday home in your garden, simply paint your garden shed with Red with Sweden and add white accents.
A beautiful dark red such as Red with Merlot looks extremely elegant on the front door, shutters and garage door. The suitable paint variant for outdoor use is MissPompadour Eggshell Varnish. This hard-wearing varnish is weatherproof and stable. The only thing it doesn't like is standing water. Therefore, make sure that water can always run off your painted surfaces.
